Architect is a Search the List category, to look in to find well-rated and reviewed architects.

And a recommendation - do not go with one of these web plan places or draftsmen who say they will "design" your house for you - for them to "design" a house is generally illegal because they are not licensed as an Engineer or Architect, they commonly make major goofs that violate code or make for an unsafe house, ignore critical things like proper energy, electrical, or HVAC design and sizing, etc.

I have (on the engineering/construction side) seen far too many problems like that. Starting with concept drawings from a book or website to show wht sort of appearance or features you want is fine, but use an architect to refine them to your specific family size and life local building codes, site conditions, etc.

BTW - on the issue of identifying what colors, interior decorating features, etc you want - a great source is to google sherch phrases like this, related to the feature you want ot check out - images for high-end bathrooms - or - images for entry porches - or - images for cape cod houses - or similar phrasing - leading of with "images for" or "plans for" or "photos of" will pop a search return to the top of the list containing thousands (or millions) of images or photots or such of the feature you searched for, each with links to the article or book or whatever it came from. Faster and much more organized than Pinterest and similar sites.
