Basement Clutter, time to remodel

Live in Seattle Area, need to have major help in organization, clutter clearing, evaluating what to keep and what to toss, what to sell, what to give. After all this is completed, we'll have a major remodel on our hands. Please tell me if you've had good experiences with anyone who can handle a huge amount of clutter without spending too much $$$. The clutter is not garbage, no stacks and stacks of magazines or string or anything like that, mostly from blending 3 families worth of stuff into one house. Thanks in advance for answers. Oh, BTW, no negative stuff like 'just get rid of it'; please... I've gotten rid of the real garbage, this stuff is 'special'! I know, only in the eyes of the beholder! LOL

Hi, I am in the basement refinishing business, outside of Philadelphia. I am familiar with all of those treasures people have in their basement! I'm not familiar with the Seattle area however I suppose you may have some of the same resources we have in my area:

I joined a Home Consignment group where I recently took a 13 year old kitchen light fixture and they sold it within 2 months or less. It is $10 to join for the year and you can load up your car with your treasures for them to sell. You will receive a % of the earnings so rather than be out the money for someone to take your things, you will make money!

Here is a link to the shop I am referring to. http://hfconsignment.com/

They are actually offering franchise licences. If you are interested, it has been a booming business here!

Hi there, I am a Professional Organizer serving the Northern Virginia area and the Ft. Walton Florida area. I won the 2010 Super Service Award here on Angieslist.
I have worked with many individuals/families including elderly couples who were ready to downsize and had many family pieces/sentimental things that they had been holding onto.

One of the ways I have helped is by sorting first some of the more valuable things that would need to be put into bins for safe keeping.
Then sorting through the not so sentimental pieces that either could be given to donation or sell.
I am sure there are many organizations in your area that collect donated items that could use the many things that 3 families have collected through out life.

I hope this is helpful. Any other questions, feel free to contact me at organizer@cox.net
