Question DetailsAsked on 3/7/2012

CD player got a CD jammed in it and now it will not open anymore. I was able to get the CD out by taking the top off

It's a Denon stereo, 10+ years old.

I had a really good and detailed answer until I saw it was a stereo you were asking about. Could be you actually disconnected the drive belt when you were working on it (black rubber band)

BUT...

My suggestion on the stereo cd rom would be to get the model or part number off the cd rom itself, go to Google and see if someone out there has a replacement. Its usually much easier to replace any cd rom as opposed to repairing it, even in stereos.

Hope this helps somewhat... Considering its a 10 year old stereo, and considering really good stereos are cheap these days, it may even be a good idea to buy another, I saw some really nice used Denons online for $100 or there abouts at Ebay.

Just a thought...

Mike
