Question DetailsAsked on 11/18/2017

Can I make a complaint against a company in the town I live in?

I made contact with the car dealership, Patterson Ford, Longview TX, to buy a new vehicle. A young man called me back, I don't recall his name, but the insulting thing was he had my date of birth in front of him, he knew i was in my 60's and he still asked me ask a relative to co-sign for us. I informed him we have grandchildren older than him!!!! And we are in our 60's and we don't ask anyone to co-sign for us. We went to Peters Dodge and bought one the next day!!!!!!! Without any hassle!!!!!!

That is what you get for going to a Ford dealer instead of going straight to a dodge dealer. You are the type of customer manufacturers and dealers hate - no brand loyalty at all ;>)

Sounds like he had done a quick credit lookup on you - which would give name, address, birthdate, credit report, etc - or he had done a quick google on you and found the info from Facebook or such. Can't say why he was asking for a co-signer though - there must have been a low credit score or some red flag on your credit report. But I did read a finance article on some companies now routinely asking for co-signers on credit apps, just hoping they can get it, so there is someone else to go after in the event of a credit default. There have also been reports of companies asking for that from older applicants so if they die before paying off, the debt does not get potentially wiped out by an estate without the assets to pay the balance. That probably qualifies as age descrimination, but in the credit business a lot of shady stuff goes on.

I don't see any Angies List listing for Patterson Ford - there is one for Patterson Chevrolet in Kilgore though.

If you go to Write a Review (right end of green banner bar above), you can search by company name to see if you find the listing you want - otherwise there is a button to create a new listing where you provide company name and address and such, then can do a first review on them.

You could also contact the Sales Manager or General Manager at Patterson and tell him about your experience - they would want to know.
