Can a dimmable cfl bulb work in a three-way socket?

If so, does the cfl bulb attain full brightness in a 3-way socket?

I won't vouch for all bulbs -might be a weird one out there, but should work - does in mine, but not as a dimmable bulb. May have to be on one specific switch setting of the 3-ways - like the highest setting. However - for it to give anything but full brightness, you would need a 3-way CFL bulb (pricey - around $11-25 each).

Might turn non in only one or two of the settings, or more likely will be full on in all three "on" settings, and offat OFF of course.
