Question DetailsAsked on 5/12/2011

Can you flag companies on Angie's List?

For instance, I am considering having my carpets cleaned. I (of course) checked Angie's List and find the company that I should use based on reviews. I (of course) don't make any phone calls right away but next week decide I really need to get that scheduled. Now I have to check the list all over again..to get back to the company that I chose last week to call. I'm wondering if other folks would find this helpful & convenient and if so, is this something that AL would consider? I know it would help me out. Leslie

Hi Leslie - - welcome !

You were right in that some of AL's folks are Moderators here. Whilst you wait for one to stop by and catch your note, I'll let you know what I use.

When I log onto AL, there is a box nearly in the middle of my screen under My Membership . The top of the box tells me my membership expires Monday, April 09, 2007 (ooops[:^)]).

First listing in that box is My Categories & Companies. Click that link and it takes me to a list of categories I've searched listed by date of search. I can click on any of them to see the list of companies I was presented.

Only thing that approach will not do is tell me who I decided on...guess Angie has yet to figure out how to list the contents of the male mind... or maybe she has and that's why it's empty.

I share your questioin of how to suggest a change though. There isn't a clear indication although I would probably just use the Contact Us tab and launch them an e-mail o'gram.

I love that they keep track of who and what I've search for in the past. However, I agree with you that it would be more useful if the My Categories & Companies had a filter for those companies I've used and rated well in the past. I've got a bunch of companies showing up under My Companies which I would either never use again, or have only looked at once and didn't consider worthy of my business. Would be nice if I could bookmark companies I'm interested in, and just have those show up in My Companies list.

Anyhoo, that's my 2 cents for what it's worth....

I'm not sure about the names of these lists on the homepage of Angie's List, but there is a list that says "Give Back to the List: Rate These Companies." The company names that appear there are (at least for me) a combination of companies that I have used and rated and companies that I have just looked up to check out other peoples ratings. How could I rate the ones I haven't used? I don't understand the logic there.

Below the "My Membership Expires" message is a link: "My Service Companies". The company(ies) that currently really interest me, I put there on the resulting page.

I think this forum is a good idea. This is the first time I have used it.

You can add a company to your My Favorites page. Once you find the company you want to keep in mind, click the heart icon on the left-hand side. You can add a note like "carpet cleaning project : get estimate #1" and you can have Angie's List notify you if their profile changes. Or you can just leave those notification reasons blank (like I do so they don't bother me).

Later, you just click on the My Favorites page under the My Links section of the homepage and you can see a list of all the companies you have flagged and noted. Use different notes to track why you flagged them. You can remove them from the Favorites page just as easily.

I love this feature. Thanks Angie!
