Can man made marble be cut?

The whirlpool tub in my bathroom (circa 1989) is made out of man made marble (ie plastic like material) it is NOT Fiberglass. there are five panels around the tub, one large in the front the length of the tub and four small panels that go around the rest of the tub. If it can't be cut, could I have the panels taken out permanently and replaced with some sort of blue board, green board or whatever it is called. and then use ceramic tile to tile up to the existing man made marble? I need a solution that let me say is CHEAP, or as cheap as I can get it. If the man made marble can be cut, who or what kind of business would cut it?

Man-made or cultured marble can be cut with a circular saw. Call R&D Marble in Willis, Tx. 936-856-6342 for more advise. Usually they can correct most problems. Tile can be run up under the tub as the skirt by removing the cultured marble skirt, build a frame of treated lumber, install concrete or Hardibacker board & install the tile.
