I have heard of squirrels chewing in through a plastic ridge vent, but (that I can think of) only where they had been in there before the reroof job and were trying to get back to their attic nest.

Of course, if he left off end caps on the ridge vent or it is bulged up so there is a gap under it or such, then they would have easy access. Inspect your soffit/eave vents to look for any which are loose or have openings - then if you don't see any problem areas (which a handyman could fix), then if such is the case I would call the roofer back and tell him squirrels are getting in since he did the roofing job.
