Carpeting price better at local dealer than big box chain

I recently had a very good experience buying carpet, after a not so good experience. My wife and I went to a local Lowe's and inqired about recarpeting our great room. We were charged a fee for the individual to come out and measure the room we wanted recarpeted, and were told that money would go towards the instalation fee. It took about a week for the person to come and measure our rooms and about another couple of days for a quote to be given to us. When we received the quote we were shocked at the price. That plus, we were told that we would need to have a new pad if we wanted the process to be covered under a warranty. In the store they had three prices shown on all carpets. One price was just for the carpet, one was the carpet and a regular pad and one was the carpet and a premium pad, all being shown in sq, footage. After we received this price, we contacted a local carpet & hardwood dealer, Country Flooring Direct in Fairview, Tn, and asked for a quote. We choose Fairview because of its lower operating cost that he could pass on to his clients. He told us to come by his showroom or tell him what we were looking for and he would come to our home with samples. When we arrived Kevin was very professional and showed us hardwoods and carpeting as my wife showed an interest in his wood flooring after seeing the samples he had on display. We eventually went with carpeting and he came to our home to measure the space we wanted carpeted that same day as well as ordering our carpet. He then told us the day it would be installed and the time his installer would arrive. On the exact date and time he said our carpet would be delivered and installed, his installer arrived with our new carpet. The installer was clean and very professional and did an excellent job. Kevin told us that when he had carpet installed, he usually recommended a new pad and that it was included with the price of the carpeting, unlike some folks that charged more for a new pad and even more for a premium pad. The kicker to the whole process was that we paid a whole lot less than what we were told it would cost by Lowe's to carpet our great room. Our new carpet looks fantastic and my wife and I would recommend Country Flooring Direct to any one who is looking to replace existing carpeting, replace carpeting with wood, or is building and needs new installation. Honesty and dependability at a great price is but a call away to 799-9979.

Carpeting..?Anyone know of a website that I could view carpet designs, get the pricing per square foot, and perhaps even an estimate on installation?
