Kestrel said $2400-4500 - I think he either spaced and was thinking about the cost for an entirely new service or for total replacement of a breaker/distribution panel, or else his rates have gone up because he is looking to buy a yacht ;>)


Here are a couple of links to similar previous questions, with more links to other related questions - but in most areas I would expect replacing the meter panel is going to run about $500-1000, though there are some areas (especially with government-owned utilities and in large cities) where the utility charge to disconnect and reconnect the supply wires can run as much as $500-1000 by itself. [Meter panel itself is about $70-200 retail price for a single-user (single meter) box, not including the meter which is normally furnished by the utility (and can almost always be swapped from one box to another]
