Here are a few previous similar questions with answers - generally around $1/SF is a normal mid-range starting point for prime plus finish coat or two finish coat jobs, with simple no-prep (except for textured ceiling dusting) one-coat spray jobs commonly starting in the $0.50-0.75/SF range and up to about $1/SF, and higher-end multi-coat and separate trim and door jobs coming in more in the $1.50-2.00/SF range commonly.

Ceiling obviously has no "high-end" version unless a lot of drywall prep is needed or hand-painting detail like faux painting, so generally falls in the $0.50-1.00/SF range for all but eggshell or gloss painting on flat ceilings, which take a lot more very detailed prep to look right. For your job probably, if just blowing dust off and single-coating, probably more like the $0.50/SF job assuming not a lot of furniture moving around is needed - some Handymen might do it for as low as $250-300 with cheap paint.

Minimum job charge for small jobs commonly in the $150-250 range, but yours is obviously above that minimum.
