This is a franchised product, so different plumbing companies sell it - you can find reviews and some comments on it and similar products by googling this search phrase - Flow-Tech Home Angies List.

Here are links to a couple of responses on your type question that will pop up if you google the above search phrase -

Youi can also read a lot of complaints about this system being a scam (I read a government notice that it and some similar ones were tested by the US Government and barred from being used on government projects as "ineffectual") by googling this search phrase - Flow-Tech Home scam.

Also - on the $ - from what I have heard of this and similar systems, they are priced just about or slightly below conventional water treatment systems to make them look like a deal - even though the "black box" probably costs about $25 to make and market, if that.

My recommendation -get a reliable conventional water treatment system - or for drinking/cooking water only you can get an under-sink reverse osmosis or high-efficiency filtration point-of-use system.
