Does your GE Geospring Hybrid heater fan run constantly?

I just installed a GE Geospring heat pump water heater and it hasn't stopped running since i turned it on. Is this normal? It's a rainy, humid day but I'm hoping I don't have to listen to that noise all night long. It's in my garage but my bedroom wall shares the garage wall.

A pity the salesman did not tell you that those have been discontinued as of the end of 2016 - officially due to low demand for the product, but a GE stock disclosure said it was because of excessive warranty claims - they have quite a reputation for failures, especially of controls and sensors - which might or might not be your issue.

Here are a couple of other Angies List questions with answers about that unit FYI:

I would check what operating mode it is on first - if on heat-pump only (max efficiency) mode, then it is trying to heat the water using only ambient heat - so the heat pump will run for a long time reheating the water - if in a cool location (like unheated garage and it is cool) might run continuously trying to do that, actually using more electricity running the heat pump than it would take to heat directly with the heating elements.

To stop it from running so long you may need to turn onto Hybrid mode - using heat pump and electric elements both.
