Drain noises

My kitchen sink drain plus both the tub in one bathroom and a shower in another all gurgle when the water has been running for some time. For example, if I am washing vegetables in the kitchen sink, I may have the water running for several minutes. When it drains out, I will hear 'blurp, blurp, blurp' for a minute or so after. Does this mean there is no air behind water? And how can this be corrected?
