German Smear painting?

I would like to re-paint my home using the German Smear technique for the exterior brick. Looking for a contractor that can do it?

Interesting how what started as sloppy workmanship by slap-and-go German masons has caught on as an "in" >


You will have to call around to find a Masonry contractor (your Search the List category) who does this. Even though this is called "German smear painting" it actually uses mortar as the coating material, so most painters have no idea how to do it. Some painters claim to do it but use whitewash or a smeared on thick latex - not the same thing, and the thick latex in particular can lead to moisture retention issues in the wall.
