HOW MUCH SHOULD A ROOT CANAL AND CROWN COST ON REAR BOTTOM TOOTH?

I HAVE A LARGE CAVATY IN MY BACK BOTTOM MOLAR: I AM BEING TOLD TO PERFORM ROOT CANAL AND CROWN TOOTH IS GOING TO COST $2000.00 FOR CASH SALE--IS NOT THIS A LITTLE STEEP?

This may be typical. Some, only some, may negotiate price down due to lack of insurance. Be sure they are not using metal amalgam (about half mercury and lead) at all. Even other "white" filling materials are not created equal. There are hundreds and although some are hypoallergenic, some can cause problems similar to the metals. Gold is best used on the crown itself; this alone adds to the significant price.
