Question DetailsAsked on 5/27/2011

Has anyone had Certainteed Vinyl siding installed?

Any problems such as loose pieces or pieces blown off by the wind? This particular line has an unconventional design, that is, a flexible hem for nailing and Permaflex suspension cables. I got skeptical vibes from the contractor that installed it ( a reputable local outfit that has been in business for over 35 years) and from another guy who saw a sample I showed him. I've had some loose pieces and a couple pieces blew off during some high winds recently and I suspect the design. Right now I'm inclined to call my man back and have him replace the problem area with the same color in the more conventional design.

First off if two contractors had reservations about the material why did you go ahead and have it installed?

The flexible hinge lock on that panel has a tendency to move in and out and loosen the nails. This causes your blow offs.

I don't know if this is the case with you but it's usually best to take the recommendations of the professionals that install it instead of trying to research it yourself off the Internet.

You very seldom go to a manufacturers website and read that their product isn't the best.

Good luck
