How do I keep my silver antique lamps from tarnishing?

I had two antique lamps re-silvered about 2 years ago. The company I went through in Charlotte had to send the lamps to New York for the re-silvering. They had previously been laquered but I was told that the process is no longer allowed, that the laquer is a environmental problem. Consequently, the 2 lamps accumulate tarnish and need to be cleaned about every other month.

If silver is exposed to the air it will tarnish. There are companies around who will be happy to clean and then lacquer your silver for a price.
