How much should it cost to have a 75 gallon water heater installed

In Reno, NV, I am having a 50 gallon water replaced with a 75 gallon water heater. What should the cost be for replacement and removal?

The bad news - if going over 55 gallon, the water heater has to meet new (couple of year old) regulations requiring a higher efficiency than for 55 gallon and smaller ones - so this almost always means the water heater has to have a heat pump mounted on top of it (which may or may not actually save energy, but required by law) - so that needs electrical hookup and dedicated breaker and such, adding at least a good few hundred $ to the cost - commonly double or twice that depending on how far the circuit run needs to be and on whether if means tearing into finished surfaces to install it.

Sometimes, if your current water heater is electric, it can tap off the existing circuit maybe with a breaker upgrade, but not often. Some models restrict the heat pup so it does not run when the elements are heating, or use much smaller heating capacity elements - so with that type existing electric water heater circuits can commonly be used OK.

Here is another previous similar questions which might help with an idea on price - but I would get several bids (on the same size and efficiency and brands you will accept) because for this large a water heater you may get a pretty fair range of pricing -
