Question DetailsAsked on 2/15/2018

How much would it cost to remove a wall with a fireplace in it on the first floor of a two story house.

There are fireplaces on the second floor with the same chimney we would like to keep. But are hoping to take out the first story wall/fireplace to make the living room bigger.

I am wondering if the fire place runs from the basement through the roof and its in the center of the home and you rewove only the first floor section will the entire house collapse in on its self or would just the chimney portion from the roof down collapse into the basement.. I am assuming you were talking about a wood burning fireplace and not a gas line operation.
