Your best estimates would be to go to a few of the major nationwide van lines websites - Bekins, Allied, Mayflower, United, etc companies - most of them have website estimators that are fairly good for preliminary purposes - then when you get closer to making the move call for actual "quotes" - which are actually estimates based on a specific weight, and generally pro-rate the actual cost according to your actual weight - so if 5% heavier than estimated 5% higher cost, if 10% less then 10% less cost, and so forth. However, some give a flat pack/load/unload/unpack quote based on their on-site estimate and prorate only the actual trucking cost based on difference between estimated and scale weight. And some, especially for dedicated truck or local moves, may go only on estimated weight and not adjust for actual weight, though that is rarer. Depends on the company and whether they are moving it as an "ICC tarriff" load or otherwise.
