How much to paint 4300 sq ft with cathedral ceilings with semi gloss

Changing from flat to semi - gloss. It's a five bedroom two storey 4300 sq ft home. Has seven daughters and wants to keep walls clean of crayons and hand prints. Anything that will help is greatly appreciated

You can find quite a few previous questions about painting issues and costs in the Home > Painting link under Browse Projects, at lower left. Be sure to distinguish between interior and exterior painting (contractor listing are separated but the Ask questions on painting are lumped together).

The cathedral Ceilings will typically add (assuming not over about 15 feet) 10-20% more to the cost for those rooms only - perhaps 25-50% more if over about 15 feet, or if tongue and groove or such material which requires hand brushing rather than spraying or rolling.

Of course, in the "touch zone" or "paw zone" especially, it is going to take some good TSP and maybe solvent cleaning to prep the walls if they already have crayons and heavy hand oiling, but going to semi-gloss sounds like a good idea and generally easy to put over a flat paint (which should almost never be used on walls), commonly without a primer unless a pretty dark existing color.

Painting - Interior is of course the Search the List to find painters.
