Handyman or one-man painting outfit - maybe as low as around $250 but most likely more like $300's for simple repaint, with very minimal or no wall defect repair first - just wash and paint. Course, with a Handyman you are throwing the dice a bit more regarding what quality job you will get. Commonly $300-500 range by a professional painter.

Of course, the scope of work matters a lot too - are you doing ceiling also, doing any trim or doors as well (can push price more into the $500-800 range), if doing trim or doors are any of them needing stain or clear finish rather than paint, how much masking and curtain/drape removal is needed, is there furniture which needs moving and can it be easily done by one person - these all affect the price.

And of course, the wall condition - if there are a lot of hole or dent repairs to be done, you are trying to do light paint over dark which might need two coats, if this is bare drywall which needs to be primed and then probably two-coated, whether using oil or latex (latter cheaper because paint is cheaper and cleanup is a lot easier) all affect the cost too. As well as the paint quality - you can get cheap box store latex for about $12/gallon, while some high-end oil and epoxy paints run into the $50-70/gallon range. Recently saw one two-component extreme hard-shell high-gloss kitchen paint (actually a high-end industrial/refiinery paint being sold for almost metal-like toughness for high-end kitchens with stainless appliances) running $120/gallon.

Painting - Interior and Handymen would be the Search the List categories to find well-rated and reviewed contractors to talk to about your job.
