Go to the Home > TV Repair link in Browse Projects, at lower left, to see a lot of prior similar questions and answers. You would have to talk to a TV repair person about whether the TV case damage, in addition to the screen, make it not worth fixing - of course, whether or not the guts of the TV were also damaged or just the screen (which is quite easy to replace, though not cheap) and case makes a big difference in repair cost, so unless the damage is deep in the TV case he would undoubtedly have to look at it to give you an estimate.

BTW - normal Emerson 50" class TV runs about $400 plus or minus about $30 at Walmart and Best Buy (ccording to their ads), so you could not afford too much of a repair or diagnostic charge by comparison - especianlly considering a new TV would presumably yuield you a new 1 year warrnaty too, which repaired one would undoubtedly not match - maybe 30 day at best.
