Question DetailsAsked on 6/12/2011

How much should water heater installation cost?

Current one was installed 1992 when the house was built, it's never been changed. 40 gal. Natural Gas, second floor in a closet in the bathroom, easily accessible. It is not faulty yet, but I don't want any accidents.

Figure on a cost of about $100/hr for a plumber plus the cost of the water heater. Cost of the heater itself vary widely, depending on the model you choose, but if you replace your 40 gal heater with a similar model, I'd estimate that it should cost about $350, with $450 labor cost, bringing the total to about $800.
