Question DetailsAsked on 6/26/2017

I just had to have my A/C repaired. $395 for a capacitor and $195 for a start assist. Plus $95 service fee.

Did I get ripped off? A/C tech put in a new capacitor cost $395, start assist $195 and service fee $96. I thought it was very high priced.

Certainly sounds like it to me too, though some OEM parts run VERY pricey - though to get that high I would say he must have a 100% or so markup. Capacitor including hard start kit commonly runs under $50 for aftermarket and about $100-250 OEM, though some are higher.

You can find a few previous similar questions - put the phrase "A/C capacitor" (without the quotes) into the Ask box above and it will bring about 4 of them for your info.
