Question DetailsAsked on 11/22/2017

I want to cancel my membership. This does not seem to be an easy task; I need assistance.

I called the 888-944-5478 number, and received a message that my membership does not include phone support. REALLY?? Then it was suggest to click the "Chat About My Membership" button on the "Manage My Account" screen, which does not work! And all of this customer service assistance is being offered by a recording... I will not ask why this simple customer service request has been made so difficult - I just want someone to assist me with cancelling my membership and refunding the membership fee deducted this week.

This seems to be the biggest complaint about Angies List - making it very difficult to get off their system so annual membership fees keep getting charged. Plus now the cheaper membershbip plans do not include phone assistance - talk about customer unfriendly !

Anyway, two choices, short of filing a criminal fraud charge against them with local police/DA or the federal CFPB:

1) eMail your member name to them at memberservices@angieslist.com, demanding they cancel your membership and refund the amount charged (or you could claim 110% under their satisfaction guarantee) AND to remove youyr credit card info from their system

2) or if you already cancelled with them (whether it "took" or not), contact your credit card or debit card bank company IN WRITING (does not effectively protect your rights if only done verbally) stating that you cancelled your membership and that this is an unauthorized charge. If you have proof of previous cancellation, you could even escalate it by reportin git as a fraudulent charge. Enough of those and a vendor loses its ability to process credit/debit cards.
