I can't tell by your question where you are located but if you're an Angie's list member look no further than the list to find a good contractor.

We operate in the greater Dallas area and can help you with your project if you live within that area. If not I can offer you some tips on how to pick a good contractor.

Budget: $85- $100 is a common minimum for a 1 man operation to a $500- $1000 minimum for a mid size company
$1000-$1500 minimum for a larger company
Operating costs and overhead make it difficult to impossible for mid to large size companies to do work below 500 -1000. Read through the ratings to see if they have done jobs similar in scale to your project.

Timing: Get estimates close to when you are wanting to have the work done. This will motivate contractors to get you a bid faster. Smaller companies are typically 1 week or less out. allow more time for a larger project. Peak season may have a longer lead time.

Get it in writing: Sometimes the person you meet initially is not the person who will be doing the work. This may lead to inconsistencies. Have your estimate be as detailed as possible and make sure changes are also added.

Goo d Luck on your job. I'm sure you will find a great contractor here on the list.
