Question DetailsAsked on 6/16/2017

If I bought a top side controller but my pymp was converted to 110 would that make the topside controller not work

I have a acura hotline pump and side controller that was changed from 220 to 110. I just bought a topside controller for that pump and when I plugged it in nothing works. Is it because it was changed from 220 to 110? If so is there anything I can do to fix this?(

Highly likely that is the cause - a 220V pump uses the two live wires to get the 220V, but a 110/120V system only has one hot wire and one neutral - so it is likely looking for the second (non-existent) live wire.

I suppose it is possible a controller for 220/240V would work with 110/120V with appropriate wiring, but I would certainly worry about the ground or the housing becoming live or zapping the innards, so certainly do not jury-rig it - find the wiring diagram for the pump and top side and side controllers and see what they say about the 110/120V conversion.

I strongly suspect you need a 110/120V topside controller to work right.

Since this sounds like a hot tub or spa pump, Pools and Spa Service is the Search the List category for that.
