Mold is toxic. Was construction in the estimate? Reputable Mold remdiation contractors have to carry Pollution Liabilty Insurance and have several requirements just to be certified to Mold Remediation. If this was testing only you got scammed. (Sampling should always be done before a Mold Remediation) If anyone tells you that sampling is not required for job that size they should be doing Mold Remediation. Equipment is used on Mold rediation jobs and every piece if you hire or hired a good comany should have been decontaminted before every jobs, they should also know how to read Mold Lab reports, and have some inspection experience. If you have any questions free free to contact me at my email address: abritecr@comcast.net

Sick Building Syndrome and Building Related Disease are most often due to mold. Water intrusion, coupled with an elevated temperature and a food source create the environment for molds to propagate rapidly. Floods, sewer back-ups, or the presence of bird droppings, domestic or wild animal wastes increase the likelihood that bacteria is involved.

Mold, if of the toxic variety, can pose a number of hazards to your family.

A quick Google search will net you everything you need to know. If you suspect that your home has mold, have a qualified professional test your home.

We are mold remediation contractors and there are a number of things that can effect the pricing. I am not sure exactly what their testing prices are or how many samples they plan to take. We normally, and as part of our protocol, do sampling before we remediate and then follow-up with sampling after remediation. We warrant our process and so we like to have the data to show we accomplished what we stated we would accomplish. The number of days can be a factor but keep in mind, while very labor intensive, the extent of the mold would have to be pretty substantial to justify that kind of cost. More information could help to provide a better answer to your questions.

Our company uses a very detailed and itemized estimating program that blueprints the properties affected areas. All projects should be outlined regarding areas to be remediated in detail. Estimates should outline the scope of work, as well the cost associated with each: "equipment, disposal, labor hours, PPE "Personal Protective Equipment" and square footage of wall and floor space." This will help the consumer better understand the cost as a whole.
