As far as my limited knowledge goes, the registration HAS to be with the cemetary or mausoleum - sometimes at a pretty hefty fee.

Also - one thing I found one handling this once was a tandem unit, unless it is just two separate cremated remain crypts which were sold and reserved side-by-side but with individual doors, or an individual burial vault with SEPARATE doors, cannot be divided in half and resold - can only be used by the original purchasing family. Basic rule about not mixing unrelated remains in one vault or crypt.

As for the actual sale - there was a BIG federal action decades ago about cemetaries and such requiring that all sales had to go through them - so now you can sellthem ot cemetary plot brokers or individuals on the open market, though staying within the sale and registration rules of the cemetary, so check their website or call them for the paperwork and rules FIRST.
