the difference between a carrier and a trane is the same difference between a lincoln and a caddie nothing it is all about hype and your wallet the higher up you go in the food chain the more sparkle you get for your dollar. they both have thermostats that communicate with the outside unit and inside unit the high end unit will cost you less per month to operate but the upfront cost are higher. to me I will stick with stardard unit with an automatic thermostat, also have the new unit balance so you get the air flow you need in all the rooms.

Carrier and Trane are both top brands. So it is like which is better Ford or Chevy...

But since we drive Trane. Trane uses spin fin technology in there A/C and Heat Pump units. Which means there efficiency levels tends to remains higher over time.
