Assuming your gas control knob is properly turned to ON setting rather than PILOT, number of similar questions with answers here - more in the Home > Plumbing link under Browse Projects, at lower left.

One thing - after checking owners manual for troubleshooting hints - especially if your gas control valve has flashing LED lights which might be indicating the problem, but if you have a thermopile rather than a thermocouple (I will not go into the differences, but thermopile turns out more power and is normally used with electronic gas control valves with the indicator LED's) sometimes as they get older (commonly last about 5-7 years or so) they will still put out enough power (typically 20-30 millivolts) to power the pilot gas valve, but sometimes not the main burner gas valve.

And of course, a safety sensor/interlock might be blocking the gas valve from turning on - some allow the pilot to burn but not the main burner if they go bad oir are tripped out.
