Roofing is the Search the List category to find well-rated and reviewed vendors for this - available to both free and paid subscription members.

I would recommend, if you are not able to get up on the roof with the contractor, that you make sure before you select one that he will agree to take photos (preferably on a tablet rather than cell phone so you can actually see them) ofthe damage to show you when he comes back down, showing the damage so you know he is not making damage up.

Of course, you can get an initial feeling for whether you have damage by finding spots where you can view your roof from the ground (or maybe impose on a neighboror two if necessary to use their deck or look out their window) with binoculars to see what damage YOU can see. Also - look around in the yard for roofing materials - strips of aluminum or galvanized metal (rare except for gutters), shingles or tiles, etc that appear to match your roof colors.

And I would advise keeping an eye on him (assuming this will be someone you never met before) fro the ground to be sure he does not cause damage just to create a claim - not many do that, but there are crooks in every business, and roofing and siding seem to have more than their share of them.

And of course, if there is significant damage, contact your insurance company BEFORE making any deal with a contractor.

Lots of previous questions with answers on storm-damage roofing repair issues, storm-chaser fraud, dealing with contractors and insurance adjusters, the risks of signing over your insurance claim rights to a contractor, etc can be found in the Home > Roofing link in Browse Projects, at lower left.
