Sump pump noises

I have a sump pump in the basement and after it cycles, it makes a terrible gurgling sound for about 5 seconds.  What causes it and how do I get rid of that noise?

The gurgling is most likely the water "glugging" back down to the pit through the check valve. Your problem could be a simple replacement of a bad check valve that isn't closing properly. We carry a heavy duty clear, silent check valve if you're interested. Hope that helped.
