WHAT IS THE AVERAGE COST TO REPLACE THE CHIMNEY CAP FOR A WOOD FIRE SYSTEM?

THE TOP CAP OF THE CHIMNEY WAS RUSTED AND HEAVY WINDS BROKE IT.

Below are some previous similar questions with answers which should help - a metal cap itself commonly runs $50-100, but fancier one or special high-wind model can run up to about $300, copper/stainless or one which has simulated or real stone roofing materials on it can run $300-800 for the part alone.


Labor commonly minimum service call charge or $70-150, assuming the supporting steel frame is intact. If it rusted off at the mortar cap on top of a real (as opposed to metal) chimney, might be another $50-100 to replace the supporting angle iron which the cap mounts to. Normally it is just the cap rusting through or the sheet metal screws rusting enough they come out or break off, in which case first paragraph should handle it.
