I don't know what state you’re in but with Irrigation in
Texas, prices can sometimes vary greatly. The reason for this is mostly due to
licensing. Unlicensed contractors do not have to take the continuing education
and receive notices of regulation changes. Some cities will only allow certain controllers;
others may require only drip for foundations and beds.
When you get your estimates make sure there are permit, design, and testing
fees as well as a license number on the estimate. If the estimates are showing
different totals for the zones - something may be wrong.
With irrigation you not only need someone reliable but knowledgeable. The money
you save now may cost you a bundle later.
As far as the landscaping goes, get a landscaping plan first then get your
sprinkler system designed to reflect those areas, make sure your contractor has
a copy of the plan.
If you’re lucky you can get a contractor, like myself, that does both.
