Water line installation

I’m going to put in a new concrete sidewalk and front porch slab. I was thinking about having a new water line installed which runs beneath the sidewalk/porch before pouring the new concrete. I don’t know how old the line is (it’s over 30 years old) but I don’t want to have to dig for a new line after the new concrete is poured, say in a few years. I hear you can install a new water line without digging, is this true?

That is a great question. It's good that you are thinking ahead and planning for the future. Yes, put a 1 1/2 or 2 inch PVC pipe in the ground and have it extend about 6 inches on each side beyound the sidewalk at the depth of the recommended level of your local water department. Put caps (don't glue them) on each end.
