What should I expect from someone I've hired to clean out my roof venting dryer vent and what sort of company should be doing that service?


I've never had a house with a roof venting dryer vent before. I know the vent hasn't been cleaned in 10+ years (the previous owner never had it done) and it's making me nervous. What sort of company should I be searching for, what should I expect them to do, and how can I tell if it's been done well?

Sarah, having this line serviced is critical at this point. Vent dryers are notorious for starting house fires. I would suggest you start with a chimney sweep contractor. They will usually service various types of venting systems including metal pipe. I would also suggest contacting an air-duct cleaning contractor.
