What is the average Labor and material cost to install an contactor and a capacitor on an AC

I just had a work done on my ac Make Trane, Model#277R3048A100cA, Serial# 60828y72F
They replaced 2 pole contactor 61421 MARS contactor full load AMPS 40, coil Voltage 24 VAC and a capacitor 440VAC T10000AFC DIELEKTROL VI
I believe I may have paid too much

Contactor about $30 retail, capacitor about $10-15 for that GE capacitor - contractor might marks that up about 100% more. Labor should, unless something in the way makes opening the casing up hard to do, be minimum service charge of typically about $60-125.


Some HVAC contractors are going to "book rates" - flat rate for a given job (with or without parts), commonly around $200-250 for this type of replacement.
