What is the average cost of replacement windows

I want to replace 5 windows in a typical raised ranch with double hung windows, kitchen window with a double casement, 3 bathroom windows with double hungs and 3 6' slider windows.

If Vinyl, you will pay usually $350-450 per window including capping and silicone caulk. For these I really like Okna. They are very solid, heavy and well made. We are lucky that their factory is a few miles away here in eastern PA.


"Window companies" only like to take on jobs with at least 3-4 windows. That industry is fraught with bait and switch guys. Make sure you get the windows that you want. You can end up with the "builder line" of a good brand and get garbage. Be cautious.


Double hungs and sliders cost about the same. Awning windows a touch more.


If wood ... that can get expensive in a hurry. Easily $500-750 a window.
