What are the best basement companies near Hartland Michigan?

We have discovered that our carpet in the basement along one wall is a bit damp and we have mold growing on our floorboards there.

Check out the previous questions with answers in the Home > Basement Waterproofing link in Browse Projects, at lower left - MANY of them have checklists of sources of this problem or detailed descriptions of how to track down the water source - can be anything from leaking pipes (indoors or outdoors), leakage through a sealable discrete crack in the foundation wall, seepage at the foundation slab/wall joint, weepage through the slab, overtopping of the foundation wall due to high outside water level during rains, etc.

You are lucky in that you have a discrete spot with evidence of moisture, so tracking down the source should be easy. Of course, check all around the basement to be sure you only have one such spot.

In a significant majority of the cases getting the roof runoff away from the foundation and keeping surface runoff from piling up against the foundation can solve the problem, though in areas with high groundwater outside french drains and foundation waterproofing, or slab underdrains with sump pump are neceaary to control the situation. If you have lived there several years and not had this problem before, it is likely a pipe leak or that outside water control will prevent its recurrence.

Plugged gutters/downspouts causing overflowing gutters is one of if not the most common cause of new wetness like this.

Professionally, Basement Waterproofing is the Search the List category for this type of work - or Gutters and Landscaping if roof / outside drainage control is what is needed.
