Unless only an 8 foot wide gate or you go VERY cheap, you are talking probably 1500-2500 for a decent single gate or $2000-3000 for a double gate - materials cost only. Opener can be $500-4000 depending on gate size and how it opens - low end for a cheap single swing gate, highest end for double-panel or high-security gates. Then additional $500-1000 range each for intercom system, security camera, automatic sensor or remote control system (as opposed to pushbutton), etc. Plus any fancy brickor stone gateposts. Installation usually $1000-3000 range, bring your total up to over $2000 at cheapest end to $10,000 range for high-end installation. For a reliable installation with intercom and camera and remotes (which cannot easily be overridden like pushbutton keypad type) you are probably talking in the $4000-7000 range for a normal 10' wide installation. Be cautious about going too narrow - which 8 feet wide might suit you with a 5-6 foot wide car, you risk damage with visitors hitting the gate. You also need to be sure to leave room for construction equipment in the future - dump trucks, building materials delivery trucks and concrete trucks and such push 8' wide so ann 8' wide gate might not be suitable in many cases. Also, if elderly people or just learning to drive kids will use it, similar issues of damage risk - tearing a gate off hitting it can easily run a coupleof thousand $ or more to repair.
