That's really a matter of opinion. Many contractors have preferences for one over another for various reasons. For 3-tab classic shingles I prefer Owens Corning. They seem to lay down better and I have repaired fewer of those due to blow-offs. They use a continuous tar line to adhere layers whereas GAF has a dotted line only connecting in a few places. I'm sure there are plenty that prefer GAF for some other reason.

I don't know that any are worse than others overall and most have similar warranties. It really comes down to preference of the installer.

As Todd said, your choice will depend more on local availability, what is most common in your area hence cheaper, and if there is a particular color or architectural design you like.

Allthree you named are known as good companies, so you are not likely to be unhappy with any of them. But then, among the brands commonly installed by reputable roofers, most provide adequate service. Most roofing complaints are about the application, not the product itself, so rather than do a lot of research of differeent shingles (other than comparing warranties), I would put my time into checking on the reputation and driving by a couple of your preferred contractor's jobs before signing a contract.

All the manufactors listed put out a good product. This is like asking which is better Coke or Pepsi. Investing in a new roof is something you should not take lightly. Shingles are manufactured and they all are done pretty much the same way so can one restist more then the other? Each manufactor will state why their product is better then the other however I will say if I had to choose only between these three you listed I would choose GAF I like the color choices better. The most important part of your roofing system will be the experience of the installers. It doesn't matter what shingle you put on your roof if it's done wrong it will leak.
