What to do about a very sudden invasion of flies?

I have a sudden invasion of adult house flies. Wondering if Irma did something to let them get in? I see no damage.

If you had flooding under/around the house it presumably had high organics and likely sewage in it - they could be coming from there - if so, should be a lot of them outside too.

Or if your crawlspace or unfinished basement got wet, could be breeding in wetness and sewage there.

Could also be some animal crawled into your house/siding/attic to escape the flooding and died there - maybe even just a dead animal laying on the roof or around the outside of the house.

One other possibility - don't know if you get cluster flies down there, but if it has started cooling down recently cluster flies flock to houses for the warmth in the fall. Will generally cluster on the sunny side of the house too - pretty noticeable when they are clustering, and commonly only lasts for a week or two in a given locale each year. Check your window screens too, as well as any basement/crawlspace screening and your attic eave/soffit screening to see if some got ripped off or pulled out of place.

Could also be getting in through a roof vent which lost its cap or hood or damper/flapper on the hood - ditto to any bathroom/kitchen fan vents or dryer vent.

Also check for some food item that got left lying around during the emergency and is rotting.

If not up to checking these sources yourself - then Pest Control would be the Search the List category for this.
