Question DetailsAsked on 12/16/2014

What would a typical interstate move of 1,200 miles cost?(2 bdrm apt to a house) &do they charge xtra for 3rd floor

I currently live on a third floor and moving to FL to a house. I have never moved that far and so don't know what to expect as far as costs. The last 3 times I moved I rented a Penske Truck and did it myself with some help but I am now pregnant and unable to lift heavy things. I am also possibly looking to move possibly as soon as the first week in January. Any suggestions?

Good luck on that date - this time of year lead times for movers runs more to a month because crews are downsized and there are a fair number of people moving into new homes (new builds or first homes) around the holidays, plus winter is a slack time in generall so a lot of personnel take their long vacations now.

Check one or more of the nationwide mover websites (Bekins, North American, Allied, Atlas, Global, Mayflower, etc) - most have generalized cost estimators that give a pretty fair ballpark number.

3rd floor without elevator - will add a bit, especially if turns in the stairs that make getting furniture around it a 3 or 4 man job.

Other hints and factors in moving, including the need for special insurance on your goods, can be found in the Home > Moving link in Browse Projects, at lower left. (Or is it in the Personal Services section - I don't recall offhand and it won't let you see the categories while doing an answer.)
