Question DetailsAsked on 8/2/2013

Whom to call to help straighten leaning garage.....carpenter, contractor, garage door fitter, etc?

Double Garage is on concrete foundation with concrete floor. It has begun to lean about 10-15 degrees off plumb, so that garage doors will not close all the way, and will have to be replaced, but cannot be until garage is straight. This is a big worry to me, but I don't know whom to call, or if I will just have to do it myself with help from the internet. I would rather not have to trash the garage, as some have suggested, since it is otherwise quite sound.

Unless it is falling apart from rot or some such, no reason to trash it.

As I suggested before, I would advise an architect or structural engineer look at it for you - about $200-350 probably.

For the fix, you want a carpenter experienced in house construction - a rough carpenter, not a finish carpenter. He can probably aqlso help with the garage doors - unless they are crushed, he can probably fix them up so they work again right.
