Window Sill Replacement

I am rehabbing my kitchen and had new quartz counter tops installed. The salesman also sold us window sills to match the counter tops. They look great but the guys showed up to install the counter tops and sills and told me they could not install the sills because we have replacement windows and the windows are resting on the sill. He said I need to have the windows removed in order to replace them. Does this sound like my only option? Can I make a cut across the underside of the sills with a reciprocating saw to disconnect it from the frame? Has anyone dealt with this before?

Any help regarding replacement of a window sill? One of our window sills was damaged by critters (which thankfully are now gone!)Is this something that can just be "popped" off and replaced (as from home improvement store) or is there more too it? We're pretty handy around these parts if we have a general idea of what it is we're doing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
