can i put in a 100a box in my garage from my 100a box in my home if so how

my panel box in my home is 100a i need power in my garage i would like to put in a box in the garage with power from my home

Yes - but how much it will cost depends on only on the $400-1000 liikely range for the panel itself (depending on how simplethe wiring runs to it are), but also on how much amperage capacity your existing panel has - generally, you are not going to be able to pull more than a simple lighting ciruit and a couple of 15 or maybe 20A convenience outlets off an existing 100A panel.

If you are looking for power tool connections or any 220/240V equipment taps (or plug-in quick-charge electric car charger) you will most likely need to spend another $1000 range (or possibly more if your overall house service does not have more capacity at the meter panel), you will probably have to pull a direct tap from the meter panel area - rather than tapping off the existing 100A panel.


Have an electrician run the load anslysis on your existing panel and uses (including consideration of your specific uses of electricity in your house, not just the standard "assumptions" to see what capacity you have available and what sort of service you need in the garage.
