evaporator coil gone in central ac should I just replace the AC

I have a Westinghouse Central AC, evaporator coil gone and they want $1253. to replace and they told me it will
be a 3/week wait to get the part. Should I just replace AC, it is 10yrs old came with new house.

I'd say replace it. Too much chance of another major failure, and the 1253 could have gone towards a new systemwith a ten year parts warranty. Plus you'll likely buy a systrem that is much more efficient and lower your electric bill starting now.


As a AC contractor ,we find most all people replace in your situation.

Yes, replace it. How to save money:

1. Don't buy from major advertised brands. Trade, carrier, etc all have other brands that cost less with same parts.

2. Negotiate for 5-10 labor warranty included
